Ugly Avatar offers a playful collection of portraits for users who want their profile image to be unusual on purpose. It replaces the smooth symmetry of typical avatar makers with crooked lines, mismatched eyes, unpredictable mouths, distorted face shapes, and wildly imperfect hair. The opening gallery includes 48 separate characters, so finding an expressive face feels more like browsing a strange sketchbook than operating a design application.

Every portrait can be downloaded as a sharp 1024×1024 PNG with a single click. There is also an option to generate 48 new faces when the current gallery has been explored. No login, subscription, source photo, or illustration experience is required. Everything happens in the browser, allowing users to move from discovery to a ready-to-use image in moments.

The visual variety comes from deterministic seeds and a procedural drawing system. A unique seed directs the distortion of key elements, including the face contour, eyes, nose, mouth, and hairstyle. Since the process is repeatable, each seeded portrait has a consistent identity rather than being an untraceable one-time result.

The images can brighten social profiles, game accounts, forum posts, group chats, developer identities, community member lists, and experimental websites. They are equally useful as memorable placeholders or as privacy-conscious alternatives to personal photographs.

Ugly Avatar is free to access. Its concept was inspired by the open-source txstc55/ugly-avatar project, and this version uses an independently created procedural drawing implementation. The focused interface, large PNG output, and proudly awkward art direction make it a convenient source of profile pictures that are weird enough to stand out and simple enough for anyone to obtain.
